BEE KIDZZZ GET CRAFTY!

Summer is coming to a close, your kids are getting bored. Let us help you find something for them to do with this simple craft that will help our pollinator friends, especially the bees. We’re going to make a BEE BATH. It’s very similar to a bird bath, with one exception. While our friends the birds like to splash around in the water, bees don’t love to get their feet wet. So, we add decorative rocks to our bee baths to give them a nice, dry place to stand while they get a refreshing drink of water. They work hard all day long, the least we can do is provide them with something to drink! So, let’s get started!

I had some friends come over to help me make bee baths and together, we gave the bees a couple places to find a drink on these long, hot summer days. Follow along with the photos to see how you can be a Pollinator Protector and make your own bee bath! There’s a good chance you have everything you need at home already!

Thank you to my friends Teagan and Thryston for helping make these bee baths. Thanks to them, thirsty pollinators will be able to find a spot to drink before getting back to their busy work days!

If you make your own bee bath, make sure to take a photo and send it to us! We may feature you as our Pollinator Protector of the Week! You can send it via message to the Carlinville Bees Facebook page or our Instagram. We can’t wait to see the bee baths you create!

ANNOUNCING THE BEE KIDZZZ BOOK CLUB

We all know how important reading and books are to our young Pollinator Protectors, so we took a trip to our Carlinville Public Library and found books that can help kids learn all about bees in a way that’s fun. This month’s choice is available for checkout from the library today, so head on over and pick it up…and several other books while you’re there!

SUMMARY: This book is packed full of fun bee facts! It’s for older readers than our last book club pick, but can still be shared with readers of all levels.
